| Reverse description | The entire reverse field, within a beaded inner circle, is occupied by a eleven-line funerary Latin inscription recording the birth, death, age, dynastic status, burial, and posthumous renown of Duke Frederick William III. The encircling outer legend, running between the beaded circle and the milled rim, names Duke Ernest of Saxony as the nearest agnate and successor who commissioned the piece. The inscription is set in bold relief Roman capital lettering, characteristic of Baroque German memorial coinage. |
