| Reverse description | An elaborate Baroque allegorical composition centred on the Prince-Bishop's coat of arms displayed beneath a canopied baldachin, supported by two classically draped female allegorical figures standing to either side. Above the canopy, an all-seeing eye radiates divine light within a triangular glory, flanked by the motto PIETAS ET COPIA RERUM in the outer legend arc, and DAT DEUS APPLAUDIT in the left arc. The shield bears the quartered arms of the Bishopric of Würzburg combined with those of the Greiffenklau family, surmounted by a bishop's mitre and crossed keys and sword. A multi-line inscription in the lower field records the key dates of his election, homage, and consecration, concluding with the date in Roman numerals MDCCXLIX. The overall composition is executed in deeply engraved high relief, exemplifying the finest tradition of German Baroque commemorative medallic art. |
