Obverse description Within an inner circle, the elaborate quartered coat of arms of the Archbishopric of Trier, surmounted by the electoral bonnet and flanked by ornate baroque cartouche mantling. The central escutcheon bears the arms of the von der Leyen family. The circular Latin legend runs continuously around the outer border, separated from the inner circle by a beaded ring.
