Reverse description The armored and draped bust of Holy Roman Emperor Charles VII faces right in high relief, rendered in the elaborate Baroque style with a long flowing wig of curled locks cascading over his shoulders and richly decorated armor with ornate pauldrons and lace cravat visible at the neck. The portrait is boldly modeled with fine detail in the facial features and costume, typical of the engraving style of Christoph Daniel Oexlein. The circular Latin legend CAROL.VII.D.G.ROM.IMP.SEMP.AVG. runs along the periphery, identifying the emperor as Charles VII, by the Grace of God, Holy Roman Emperor, Forever August. The engraver's signature C.D.OEXL. appears in the lower field beneath the bust truncation.
