(Translation: Greek Republic)
Reverse description A finely modelled veiled head of Demeter, the goddess of grain and harvest, faces left in classical profile, her hair adorned with a grain wreath and dressed in flowing wavy locks beneath a draped veil that falls to the right. The bust is rendered in high relief in the neoclassical style, evoking ancient Greek coinage iconography. The legend ΔΗΜΗΤΗΡ (Demeter) is inscribed vertically along the right field. The engraver's initials 'PM' appear in small lettering at the lower left of the bust truncation.
