Obverse description The Singapore state arms, featuring a lion and a tiger as supporters flanking a central shield, occupies the centre of the obverse. The arms are encircled by the country's name inscribed in all four official languages — Malay (SINGAPURA), Chinese (新加坡), English (SINGAPORE), and Tamil (சிங்கப்பூர்) — arranged around the circumference. The national motto MAJULAH SINGAPURA appears at the base of the legend, with the date 1981 positioned below the arms in the lower field.

Reverse description A finely detailed rooster, the principal motif representing the Year of the Rooster in the Chinese zodiac cycle, stands in profile at centre within a raised inner circle. Above the rooster, the Chinese characters 酉年 (Year of the Rooster) are inscribed in the upper field of the inner circle. Surrounding the inner circle, the annular border features all twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac rendered in high relief, evenly distributed around the circumference. The denomination legend 10 DOLLARS is boldly inscribed along the lower rim in Latin characters.
