Reverse description The reverse displays the Fijian coat of arms at center, depicting two Fijian warriors as supporters flanking a quartered shield, with a British lion in the chief and a sugar cane, coconut palm, dove, and bunch of bananas in the quarters. Surrounding the central arms is an elaborate annular band of intricately engraved filigree work featuring dragons, phoenixes, and foliate motifs in a Chinese decorative style. The country name FIJI is inscribed in the upper field and the date 2019 appears in the lower field, with the fineness mark 1oz Ag 999 engraved vertically along the right side of the field.

Additional information

Fiji has issued commemorative lunar series coinage for decades, largely through arrangements with the Pobjoy Mint and later other private minting houses, targeting the collector market rather than circulation. The 2019 Pig issue is part of a broader pattern of Pacific island nations licensing their monetary authority to produce high-premium novelty pieces — the Reserve Bank of Fiji retains nominal issuing authority while the coin's actual commercial life exists entirely outside the Pacific.
