| Reverse description | A stylised horse in the Tang dynasty folk-art tradition stands in profile facing left at centre, its mane and tail rendered in bold relief against a frosted black field. Elaborate scrolling calligraphic cloud and floral patterns fill the background, evoking traditional Chinese decorative motifs. The Chinese cyclical year characters '壬午' appear in the upper right field, denoting the Year of the Horse in the sexagenary cycle. The denomination '$10' is inscribed in the lower field, with the legend '2 TROY OZ 999 FINE SILVER' incused along the lower rim. |

The piedfort format — double the normal planchet thickness — originated in medieval France as a presentation striking used to test dies and provide official weight references. Singapore adopted the format for collector issues beginning in the 1980s, applying it selectively to Lunar series coins where the added depth gives particular relief to the sculptural qualities of the dies. The 2002 Horse completes the first full twelve-year Lunar cycle Singapore issued in piedfort, a run that began with the 1990 Horse.
