Liberia has issued commemorative wildlife silver rounds under its coinage authority since the 1990s, largely targeting the collector market rather than domestic circulation — the country's de facto currency has long been the US dollar in practice. These pieces are produced under licensing arrangements with European minting houses and distributed almost exclusively through international numismatic dealers, meaning virtually none enter Liberian commerce.
