A ten dollar note issued by the State of Florida on March 1st of 1864. Signed by John Milton (1807-1865) who served as Governor from 1861 until his death on April 1st of 1865, and C.H. Austin, Treasurer. The central vignette is of Ceres, Roman goddess of agriculture, seated on a bale of hay, holding a scythe in her right hand and a caduceus of Hermes in her left. At upper left are two reclining belles encircled by wording. At lower left is a gaff-rigged sloop. At lower right is a slave picking cotton.
