Reverse description Antique-finish exterior view of St. Stephen's Basilica, Budapest, rendered in detailed high relief across the rhombus-shaped flan, showing the neoclassical facade with columns, arched windows, and the prominent dome visible behind the towers. At center, a colorful holographic stained-glass window insert depicts a crowned and robed figure of Saint Ladislaus (Szent Laszlo), identified by an inscription within the window. To the right, a sculpted bearded figure in medieval armor, likely representing a Hungarian king or saint, holds a scepter topped with a cross. An angel in relief appears in the lower field. The legend SAINT STEPHEN'S BASILICA BUDAPEST arcs along the upper border.

Additional information

Palau has operated a prolific commemorative coin program since the 1990s, licensing its sovereign issuing authority to foreign minting houses — primarily the Bavarian State Mint and B.H. Mayer's — to produce collector pieces with no circulation intent whatsoever. This piece belongs squarely to that commercial output, issued under Palauan authority as a vehicle for the subject matter rather than any expression of Palauan monetary or cultural interest.

St. Stephen's Basilica in Budapest was completed in 1905 after 54 years of construction, delayed substantially when the dome collapsed in 1868.
