Obverse description Intaglio-printed note in black with blue serial numbers and seal, centred by an oval vignette of Alexander Hamilton in three-quarter portrait bust, rendered in fine line engraving. A large guilloche numeral '10' underprint appears to the left of the vignette, while the blue circular Treasury seal is positioned to the right alongside the serial number and 'WASHINGTON, D.C.' inscription. The heading 'SILVER CERTIFICATE' runs across the top border, with 'TEN DOLLARS' in bold letterpress along the lower margin and the silver redemption clause inscribed at the base.
