Liberia's Central Bank issued a long series of commemorative dollars through the early 2000s, many produced by foreign private mints and sold directly to collectors rather than circulated domestically. This Reagan piece appeared in the year of his state funeral's second anniversary, part of a broader wave of American presidential tributes that Liberia — given its historical ties to the United States — leaned into heavily as a revenue stream. These coins were never intended for Monrovian cash registers.
