Reverse description A highly detailed high-relief rendering of a Protoceratops, the ceratopsian dinosaur of the Late Cretaceous period, is depicted in left-facing profile occupying the majority of the coin's field. The animal's textured, scaly hide is rendered with fine engraving detail, and its characteristic parrot-like beak and frill are clearly delineated. The Pobjoy Mint mark (PM) appears in small letters to the lower left of the central device. Below the dinosaur, the species name PROTOCERATOPS is inscribed across the lower field, flanked by two raised dots, with the denomination $10 directly beneath. The circular peripheral legend PRESERVE PLANET EARTH arcs along the upper and lateral rim.
