| Obverse description | The central field bears the coat of arms of Liberia, featuring a three-masted sailing ship, a dove in flight, a palm tree, and a rising sun, all above a shield supported by scrollwork, with the national motto 'THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE' on a ribbon across the shield. The date '1997' is divided to either side of the arms in the mid-field.
