Additional information

Liberia has no meaningful connection to the Krugerrand — that name belongs entirely to South Africa, where the gold bullion coin has been minted since 1967. What Liberia issued here is a licensed or unlicensed fantasy piece riding the Krugerrand's name recognition, struck in 14-karat gold at a weight too small to carry any serious bullion value. These types proliferated from Liberian "commemorative" programs in the 2000s, a period when the country's coin-issuing authority produced hundreds of nominally denominated pieces with no plausible circulation intent and limited collector credibility.
