Obverse description The full Jamaican coat of arms is rendered in high relief at center, featuring a quartered shield bearing alternating crosses and pineapples, supported on the dexter side by a female Taíno figure holding a pineapple and on the sinister side by a male Taíno figure holding a spear and bow. Above the shield, a crocodile passant surmounts a royal helm and mantling. A scroll below bears the national motto in the legend OUT OF MANY, ONE PEOPLE. The country name JAMAICA arcs along the upper legend, while the denomination TEN DOLLARS and date 1979 are inscribed along the lower field. The CHI mintmark of the Valcambi mint appears in the lower field.
