| Obverse description | The central field displays the Jamaican coat of arms in high relief, featuring a quartered shield with pineapples and horizontal bars, supported by two Taíno figures — a female supporter to the left holding a basket of fruit, and a male supporter to the right bearing a bow and shield — surmounted by a crocodile atop a royal helm. A scroll beneath the shield bears the national motto OUT OF MANY, ONE PEOPLE. The design is encircled by a decorative chain-and-flower border within a beaded rim, with the commemorative legend TENTH ANNIVERSARY OF INDEPENDENCE arcing across the upper field, TEN DOLLARS along the lower field, and the date span 1962–1972 appearing in the lower central field. |
