The "6th portrait" designation marks Elizabeth II as she appeared on Australian coinage from 2019 onward, based on Jody Clark's effigy — the same portrait introduced on UK coinage in 2015 and subsequently adopted across Commonwealth mints. It remains in use posthumously, as Australia has been deliberate in its transition pace following her death in September 2022. This coin was therefore struck in a year of genuine institutional ambiguity, with Charles III portrait coinage already entering circulation alongside continuing Elizabeth II issues.
