Obverse description The arms of Jamaica occupy the central field, depicting a quartered shield charged with five pineapples arranged in cross formation, surmounted by a helmet and crest featuring a crocodile passant. Two Taino figures in traditional dress serve as supporters, the dexter supporter holding a bow and the sinister holding a basket of produce. The legend JAMAICA arcs across the upper periphery, while TEN DOLLARS and the date 1976 curve along the lower periphery. A scroll beneath the shield bears the national motto OUT OF MANY ONE PEOPLE, and the entire design is enclosed within a beaded border.
