| Obverse description | Front-facing portrait bust of Helen Taft, wife of the 27th President, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair swept upward in an elaborate Edwardian coiffure and adorned with drop earrings and an ornate brooch at the collar. The legend HELEN TAFT arcs along the upper periphery, while IN GOD WE TRUST appears in the left field and LIBERTY / 2013 / W in the right field. The date range 27th 1909-1913 curves along the lower border, referencing her tenure as First Lady. Engravers' initials WCB and PH are present in the lower field to either side of the portrait. |
