Obverse description The national coat of arms of Liberia is prominently displayed in the central field, depicting a sailing ship at sea before a rising sun with a palm tree on the shore, all enclosed within a shield surmounted by a scroll bearing the motto THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE and flanked by olive branches. The split date 20-01 appears to the left and right of the shield respectively, while olive branches frame the lower portion of the design. The circular legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA runs along the upper periphery, with a secondary legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA inscribed on a ribbon below the shield. The denomination 10 DOLLARS is incused along the lower rim.
