Obverse description The national coat of arms of the Republic of Liberia occupies the central field, depicting a three-masted sailing ship at sea, a palm tree, a dove in flight, a rising sun, and a plough with a spade in the foreground. The arms are surmounted by a scroll bearing the national motto THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE. The legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA arcs along the upper periphery, with REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA repeated on a ribbon scroll at the base of the shield. The date 2001 is divided across the lower field, flanking the arms, and the denomination 10 DOLLARS appears along the bottom rim.
