Obverse description The obverse features the national coat of arms of Liberia at center, depicting a sailing ship on the sea before a rising sun, flanked by a palm tree and a dove in flight, with a plow and shovel in the foreground, all within a ornate shield surmounted by a scroll bearing the national motto. The circular legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA arcs along the upper rim, with the date split as 20 and 00 flanking the shield at center left and right respectively. A second inner legend THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE curves around the upper portion of the shield.
