Obverse description Central intaglio vignette of Alexander Hamilton in an oval frame, with the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco seal bearing the letter 'L' to the left and a brown Treasury seal to the right. The word 'HAWAII' is overprinted in bold brown letters vertically on both the left and right margins, a wartime emergency measure distinguishing this issue for use in the Hawaiian Islands. Series of 1934A is indicated below the main title, with dual signatures of the Treasurer and Secretary of the Treasury at lower left and right respectively.
