| Additional information |
The F-105 Thunderchief flew more combat missions over North Vietnam than any other aircraft during the air war of the 1960s, and suffered for it — roughly half of all F-105s built were lost in combat or accidents by the war's end. The Marshall Islands issued commemorative brass dollars throughout the 1990s in considerable volume, targeting the collector market rather than circulation, and this piece is squarely part of that program.
The KM#242 reference places it within a sprawling series of aviation-themed issues from that decade, most of which never approached genuine scarcity.
