Part of the RCM's ongoing fine silver holiday series, these annual winter-themed issues were introduced as a direct response to collector demand for affordable pure silver pieces during the Christmas gifting season. The .9999 fineness — rather than the more common .999 — was a deliberate marketing distinction the Mint adopted across its collector bullion line around this period to differentiate Canadian product from competing sovereign mint offerings.
