| Reverse description | Three-dimensional sculptural rendering of the celebrated Tsar Bell (Tsar-Kolokol), the largest bell in the world, housed in the Moscow Kremlin. The exterior surface of the bell is richly decorated in high relief with Baroque ornamental friezes, garlands, and cartouches. A full-length imperial figure, identified as Empress Anna Ioannovna holding a sceptre and orb, is depicted in regalia at centre, flanked by decorative panels featuring a religious icon in a baroque frame at the upper register. The skirt of the bell is adorned with an elaborate acanthus-scroll frieze, faithfully reproducing the ornamental programme of the original 18th-century bell cast by Ivan and Mikhail Motorin. |
