Additional information

The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank issues commemorative gold almost exclusively through licensing arrangements with private minting firms — Pobjoy Mint and the New Zealand Mint have both held contracts over the years. These pieces circulate in name only, priced well above face value from the moment of release and never intended for general use across the eight-member currency union.

The seaplane subject references the flying boat services that connected remote Eastern Caribbean islands before runway infrastructure existed — LIAT's predecessor operations and earlier British colonial air mail routes made amphibious aircraft genuinely significant to inter-island commerce in the mid-twentieth century.
