Additional information

Bermuda's gold issues of the 1990s were produced primarily for the collector and bullion market rather than any domestic monetary function — the island's circulation coinage was entirely copper-nickel. This piece was struck by the Royal Mint under contract, part of a broader series of Bermudian wildlife-themed gold issues that targeted the international numismatic trade during a period when small-denomination fractional gold was gaining traction among collectors unwilling to commit to full-ounce pieces.

KM#133 is catalogued with a mintage of 500 pieces.
