| Additional information |
Dominica issued this commemorative to mark Queen Elizabeth II's tour of the Eastern Caribbean in October 1985, one of several regional visits undertaken as part of the broader Commonwealth tour that year. The silver proof variant (KM#20a) was struck alongside a copper-nickel circulation issue, a common dual-format approach used by Caribbean island states during the 1980s to generate foreign exchange revenue through collector sales rather than domestic circulation.
