Obverse description The coat of arms of Sierra Leone (adopted 1960) occupies the central field, featuring a shield supported by two lions rampant, with two crossed torches and a lion passant on the shield's quarters, flanked by palm trees above. Below the shield, a ribbon bears the incuse national motto in three parts. The circular legend 'REPUBLIC OF SIERRA LEONE' arcs around the upper periphery, and the date '2006' appears in the lower field beneath the arms. The entire design is framed by a beaded border.
