| Reverse description | The reverse features five miniature representations of celebrated historical gold coins arranged in two rows across the central field, each rendered with faithful detail to its respective original. The upper row displays two oval coin depictions — one appearing to show a medieval figure in robes beside a standing object, the other a crowned profile bust — while the lower row presents three further coins: a ship-type gold noble with a crowned monarch aboard a vessel, a German gold coin bearing the bust of Kaiser Wilhelm I with the legend WILHELM DEUTSCHER KAISER KÖNIG V. PREUSSEN, and an early American eagle gold coin dated 1787 with the legend E PLURIBUS UNUM and the initials EB. The upper arc carries the bold legend HISTORICAL GOLD COINS, and the lower portion of the field bears the inscription THE HISTORY OF GOLD in prominent raised lettering. A decorative beaded border frames the entire reverse design. |
