Reverse description The lower left field features a three-quarter facing portrait bust of the Polish astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus, depicted in Renaissance attire with curled hair. To his right, a stylised heliocentric solar system diagram occupies the central field, showing a radiant sun at centre encircled by an orbital ring with four globes representing the Earth at cardinal positions. The legend NICOLAUS COPERNICUS arcs along the upper periphery, flanked by his birth and death dates 1473 and 1543 on either side. The denomination 10 DOLLARS appears in the lower exergue in bold raised lettering.
