Part of the miniature gold "Mini Coin" series issued for the collector market, this piece was produced by the Pobjoy Mint under license from Fiji — a arrangement common for Pacific island nations whose own minting infrastructure is effectively nonexistent. Fiji's monetary authority has long used foreign mints, primarily the Royal Australian Mint and Pobjoy, for both circulation and collector issues.
The Mercury theme places this within a broader classical mythology subset of the series. At 0.5 grams, these were engineered at the absolute lower boundary of practical gold coin production.
