Part of a wave of ultra-small gold miniatures that flooded the collector market in the 2010s, this piece was struck by a private mint under license rather than by any sovereign facility in the Solomon Islands — a country with no domestic mint capacity of its own. The islands function here purely as a licensing authority, lending legal-tender status to a product conceived, designed, and manufactured entirely elsewhere for the European collector market.
