The British Virgin Islands has no meaningful historical connection to the Mayflower voyage of 1620 — the commemorative exists because the BVI, as a Crown dependency, is authorized to issue collector coinage under the Royal Mint's licensing framework, and the 400th anniversary of the Plymouth crossing offered a commercially viable hook. These issues are produced for the collector and bullion markets almost exclusively; none circulate.
