Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley, occupying the lower left portion of the coin. Behind the effigy, a high-relief depiction of the interior nave of La Seu Cathedral of Palma frames the design, rendered with architectural pillar and arch detail. A circular inlaid colored glass insert, representing the rose window of the cathedral, is centrally positioned in the upper field, featuring an intricate geometric floral pattern in blue, red, yellow, and white. The legend 'ELIZABETH II' curves along the upper rim, with 'COOK ISLANDS' inscribed vertically along the right field, and the denomination '10 DOLLARS' appearing in the lower exergue.

Additional information

Part of a sprawling Cook Islands architectural series that has issued hundreds of commemorative silver pieces tied to European landmarks, this particular release honors the Gothic cathedral on Mallorca whose construction began in 1229 and was not completed until 1601 — a building project that outlasted the medieval period entirely. Antoni Gaudí was brought in between 1901 and 1914 to restore the interior, making La Seu one of the few Gothic structures with a documented Modernista intervention.
