| Obverse description | Right-facing diademed effigy of Queen Elizabeth II occupies the central field, rendered in high relief with fine detail to the hair and tiara. Below the portrait, the denomination legend reads '1OZ 9999 GOLD / TEN DOLLARS' in two lines. At the base of the field, a depiction of the traditional Tokelauan carved wooden box (the fatupaepae) is shown with the motto 'TOKELAU MO TE ATUA' inscribed on a scroll beneath it. The circular legend 'ELIZABETH II · TOKELAU · 2022' arcs around the upper portion of the coin. The border is decorated with an engraved geometric lattice pattern evoking traditional Tokelauan weaving motifs. |

| Additional information |
Tokelau — three Pacific atolls with a combined land area of roughly 12 square kilometers and no indigenous coinage tradition — has issued collector gold since 2012 under a licensing arrangement that routes production through the New Zealand Mint. The territory has no Komodo dragons, no historical connection to Indonesia, and no mint of its own. The coin exists because the bullion collectibles market rewards exotic issuers with nominal face values that carry legal tender status under New Zealand law.
