Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, draped and wearing a tiara, rendered in high relief against a polished field. The legend BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS arcs along the upper left periphery, while QUEEN ELIZABETH II and the date 2008 arc along the upper right and lower right respectively. The portrait is executed in the style associated with the Pobjoy Mint's mature effigy of the Queen.

Reverse description A forward-facing portrait bust of King Alfred the Great, depicted wearing a beaded crown and a jewelled necklace, rendered in high relief against a gilded field with a beaded border. The inscription ALFRED REX appears in two lines flanking the upper portion of the portrait, with the PM mint mark visible to the lower left of the bust. The denomination $10, flanked by small cross ornaments, is inscribed along the lower portion of the field in bold lettering.
