Additional information

Fiji's commemorative program in the early 2010s leaned heavily into the inlaid gemstone market that had taken hold across Pacific and Caribbean issuing authorities — a deliberate revenue strategy for small-island mints working through licensing arrangements with the Perth Mint and similar facilities. This piece is currency only in the loosest legal sense; production runs were aimed squarely at the collector market, with no intention of circulation.

The Swarovski zirconia inlay is factory-set, not hand-placed, a detail that matters to variety collectors since misalignment errors on comparable issues from this period do exist.
