| Obverse description | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after Ian Rank-Broadley, positioned in the upper right field, with the legend ELIZABETH II arching vertically along the left rim and FIJI along the upper right rim. A central decorative filigree motif in the form of a five-petalled flower occupies the middle of the field, inlaid with a central Swarovski zirconia stone at its heart. The denomination $10 appears in the lower portion of the field, with the date 2012 running vertically along the right rim. The coin is encircled by a fine beaded border. |

Fiji's commemorative program in the early 2010s leaned heavily into the inlaid gemstone market that had taken hold across Pacific and Caribbean issuing authorities — a deliberate revenue strategy for small-island mints working through licensing arrangements with the Perth Mint and similar facilities. This piece is currency only in the loosest legal sense; production runs were aimed squarely at the collector market, with no intention of circulation.
The Swarovski zirconia inlay is factory-set, not hand-placed, a detail that matters to variety collectors since misalignment errors on comparable issues from this period do exist.
