| Obverse description | The obverse features the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, sculpted by Susanna Blunt, depicting a mature bust of the Queen facing right, bare-headed, wearing a necklace and drop earrings. The legend ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA arcs along the upper periphery of the field, identifying the sovereign by name and title. The portrait captures the Queen at approximately 77 years of age, rendered in fine relief against an unadorned field. The effigy is consistent with the standard Royal Canadian Mint obverse design used on Canadian coins from 2003 onward. |
