Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the George IV State Diadem, rendered in fine detail with curled hair and a pearl earring visible. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs across the upper field, while the denomination 10 DOLLARS, the issuer FIJI, and the date 2012 are inscribed along the lower portion of the coin. The portrait is modeled after the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy, consistent with Commonwealth coinage of the period.

Additional information

Part of a sprawling series of miniature gold issues produced for the collectibles market around 2010–2013, this piece has no meaningful connection to Fiji beyond its legal-tender status — a jurisdiction chosen purely for its cooperative mint licensing arrangements. Hagia Sophia had been a museum since Atatürk's 1934 decree, though Turkey controversially reconverted it to a mosque in July 2020.
