Additional information

Issued as part of a broader commemorative push around the 70th anniversary of major Pacific Theater engagements, this coin marks the departure of Australian and Allied forces through the Solomon Islands corridor — a region that saw some of the most sustained naval and land combat of the Pacific war, including the grinding Guadalcanal campaign of 1942–43. The Solomons themselves were not merely a backdrop; Henderson Field on Guadalcanal was the strategic hinge on which the Allied counteroffensive turned.

KM#284 is a Crown-sized collector issue with no circulation purpose, produced for the international commemorative market under Solomon Islands' licensing arrangements with the Perth Mint.
