| Obverse description | Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, wearing the George IV State Diadem and a necklace, rendered in high relief against a polished field. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper left rim and COOK ISLANDS along the upper right rim, with the date 2002 positioned in the lower exergual area. The portrait is consistent with the Raphael Maklouf effigy style used on Commonwealth coinage during this period. |

| Additional information |
Cook Islands has issued gold in fractional weights under royal warrant since the 1970s, frequently targeting the collector and bullion crossover market. The 1/10 oz .9999 fine specification here follows the same standard adopted by the Perth Mint for many of its own fractional issues, and several Cook Islands gold programs of this period were in fact struck under contract in Australia.
