Additional information

Part of a broader Olympic sports series released ahead of the Beijing Games, this issue was struck by the Pobjoy Mint under license — the Isle of Man-based private mint that has handled Solomon Islands commemorative coinage for decades. Pobjoy's relationship with smaller Pacific and Caribbean nations allowed those issuers to participate in the commemorative market without maintaining their own minting infrastructure.
