Additional information

This is the ninth in a fourteen-piece series issued by Niue commemorating Notre-Dame de Paris. The series was released in the years immediately before the April 2019 fire that destroyed the cathedral's spire and much of the roof structure, which has since given the complete set an unintended documentary weight — these coins record the building as it stood.

Niue's arrangement with outside mints and licensing agencies to produce themed collector silver has been commercially active since the early 2000s, with the island's sovereignty used primarily as an issuing mechanism for the international collector market.
