Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, portrayed in a mature portrait with a diadem and draped shoulders, set within a circular beaded border at the centre of a square planchet. The legend ELIZABETH II · NIUE · 10 DOLLARS is inscribed around the portrait, with the denomination reading vertically on the right side. The date 2014 appears in the lower field beneath the portrait. The surrounding square field is left as a plain frosted surface, emphasising the contrast with the raised circular design.

Additional information

One of fourteen releases in a series documenting the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris, this piece was issued eight years before the April 2019 fire that destroyed the spire and much of the roof structure. The series now carries an unintended documentary weight — the architectural details it commemorates exist in their pre-fire state, which the physical building no longer does.
