Issued as part of Niue's well-worn practice of licensing its sovereignty for commemorative programs, this piece belongs to a fourteen-coin series dedicated to Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral. The 2019 fire — which destroyed the spire and much of the roof — gave the entire run retrospective significance it was never intended to carry, and secondary market prices shifted accordingly within weeks of the blaze.
