Additional information

Nauru has no historical connection to the Castle of Mey whatsoever. This is a pure commemorative issue produced for the collector market, one of dozens of topically themed silver dollars the tiny Pacific nation licensed to foreign minting operators during the 1990s — a revenue stream that had little to do with domestic monetary policy and everything to do with exploiting the island's sovereign minting rights. The Castle of Mey, the Queen Mother's private Scottish residence purchased in 1952, appears here simply because royal themes sold reliably to Commonwealth collectors at the time.
